Community Investment Fund

The Community Investment Fund provides a unique source of funding to assist in the growing demand of quality credit union programs. Local state initiatives, in connection with the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation and the Shapiro Group, are possible through the Community Investment Fund by the partnership efforts of the National Credit Union Foundation, California Credit Union League, and WesCorp.

Invest in the Future of Credit Unions

The Community Investment Fund (CIF) is an innovative way for credit unions to invest in the future and vitality of the credit union movement and also receives financial benefit from the investment. The CIF supports development initiatives on a state, national, and international level with an added bonus to the contributing credit unions of earning dividends on its investments.

The California and Nevada credit unions investing in the CIF enhance the credit union movement by supporting the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation and the Shapiro Group with a new source of revenue to provide financial resources to meet increased needs for educational opportunities and development of strategic objectives that would not otherwise be possible.

Invest in the Community Investment Fund

California and Nevada credit unions invest a specified amount in an account at WesCorp. The corporate credit union in turn re-invests the funds in an account designed specifically for the Community Investment Fund with U.S. Central Credit Union. A percentage (minimum of 2 percent) of the dividends is returned to the investing credit union and another (maximum of 2 percent) is directed to the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF). The NCUF returns half of the dividends earned to the California Credit Union League to support the activities of the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation and the Shapiro Group. Funds received through the CIF are specifically earmarked for state, national and international initiatives.Visit www.cuna.org/data/cu/cuna/foundation/cif_cover.html#history
