RMJ Foundation Newest Board Members

In January 2021 PSCU Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development Chris Gunnare and Patelco Credit Union Financial Educator Veronica Dangerfield joined the RMJ Foundation Board of Directors. Both Gunnare and Dangerfield are replacing board members whose terms have expired. The board is responsible for the oversight and direction of the Foundation. Each board member serves a three-year term.

BIZ Kid$ Showcase
Empower Young Members Through the Virtual Biz Kid$ National Showcase!
The RMJ Foundation is teaming up with the National Credit Union Foundation to bring credit unions the Biz Kid$ National Showcase, an opportunity for kids in California and Nevada age 12-18 to put their creative minds to the test by creating and developing their own business ideas! They will submit their entries that will be judged by a panel of credit union employees and supporting business partners. There will be prizes awarded for each state and the top three winners from each state will go on to compete at the national level. Registration is free, and students can sign-up now through April 26. RMJ Foundation CU Escape Room
On April 29, 2021 at 5pm (PST) the RMJ Foundation will host our first CU Escape Room. The escape room will test your knowledge of the credit union movement and cooperative principles. Come test your skills and see if you can escape!

In February we released our 2020 Impact Report. We are proud of the partnerships we have with credit unions and credit union foundations nationwide and all of the hard work they continue to do to bring financial education to their members and communities.

BITE OF REALITY ® UPDATES
Remote Facilitator Guide: With the continued use of the remote version of Bite of Reality, we have created a new Facilitators Guide to help credit unions continue to deliver successful events. The guide walks through the remote version process and gives tips on different ways to deliver a Bite of Reality virtually.
Bite of Reality using Breakout Rooms: Credit unions have been creative and keep finding new ways to deliver Bite of Reality virtually. RMJ collaborated with San Mateo Credit Union and Orange County’s Credit Union to establish how using breakout rooms would add an additional aspect to the event and create more of an in-person event feel.

A special thank you to Kristi Longoria and her team at San Mateo CU for holding a “Bite” that was staffed with RMJ Facilitators from credit unions throughout California and Nevada to play the roles of merchants. This allowed for all of us to experience breakout rooms and the process while providing financial education to some high school students in the San Mateo area.
Bite of Reality Web-based version: RMJ is working with MindBlown Labs to develop a web-based version of the Bite of Reality App. Participants will soon be able to access Bite of Reality via a web page and will not have to download the app onto a smart device. This version will help to deliver the program remotely and participants will only have to use one device! This version will also help in an in-person fair when a student cannot download the app due to data restrictions. This new version will be available to credit unions to access in late April 2021.
