financial education
The RMJ Foundation Teamed up with the National Credit Union Foundation to launch the Biz Kid$ Showcase.
In April, more than 100 students signed up to participate in the Biz Kid$ Showcase. The students completed learning modules focused on creating a business plan and building a brand. Each participant submitted both their business plan and final showcase project displaying all their hard work. In California and Nevada, we had more than 50 participants register for the showcase. RMJ selected a panel of judges to score all the final projects. The showcase projects were judged on branding, uniqueness, need, target market and overall presentation. We awarded three winners in Nevada and one winner in California. See the winners’ creations in each state!

Bite of Reality ®
RMJ is excited to announce the launch of the web-based version of the Bite of Reality2 App. You can now access Bite of Reality2 via a web page at https://www.rmjbora.com/ and do not have to download the app onto a smart device. This version works exactly as the downloaded version. The web-based version is not recommended on cell phone devices but is intended to help to deliver the program remotely for participants who only have one device and when conducting in-classroom events.
As we continue to deliver Bite of Reality remotely, we find new ways to deliver the program while keeping the interaction of the in-person fairs. With some students back in the classroom, a hybrid version is a great way to give a classroom a Bite without physically going onto campus. The BOR Remote Version Facilitator’s Guide and program materials are now available on the RMJ website. The guide will help walk you through facilitating a virtual Bite of Reality. For access to these materials contact Jenn Lucas at [email protected].

FINANCIAL CORNER – BROUGHT TO YOU BY PSCU
Financial Well-Being Starts at Home
Merry Pateuk, SVP, Industry Engagement, PSCU
Recently, PSCU and the Members Development Company worked with the Financial Health Network to assess the financial health of credit union members and employees, comparing that data to national benchmarks.
According to research findings, the financial health needs of members are evident: Over 60% of credit union members surveyed are struggling financially and at least one-third live paycheck to paycheck. What may be a bit surprising is that more than 60% of credit union employees are also struggling financially with some aspect of saving, spending, borrowing and or planning.

No matter where your credit union is on its journey to support the financial well-being of members, it’s important to not overlook the opportunity to engage employees in support of their financial health. Readily available, easy-to-use measurement tools can provide employees a snapshot of financial health, while the credit union can play an active role in normalizing conversations around money and encouraging staff to take advantage of employee benefits and credit union products that help improve financial outcomes.
Credit unions are uniquely positioned to promote financial well-being outcomes for employees, who can then carry the message of prioritizing financial well-being more effectively to members. In the credit union industry, we are fortunate that our workplaces are like our extended families. Let’s start financial well-being at home.
